Thomas Batardiere 'Les Noels de Montbenault'

Thomas Batardiere · 2021

FranceLoire Valley (Anjou)Chenin Blanc12.5% ABV

This biodynamic single-vineyard white is crafted from 45-year-old vines planted on the volcanic, volcanic-schist soils of the iconic Les Noëls de Montbenault plateau in Rablay-sur-Layon. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for 12 months strictly in neutral clay amphorae and old oak barrels with zero sulfur added, the cool and classic 2021 vintage manifests in a brilliantly tensioned texture packed with plush aromas of crisp green apple, quince paste, preserved lemon rind, and wet wool, beautifully anchored to a dense, smoky, volcanic stone minerality.
